Our time together typically runs for about an hour and a half and includes worship, prayer, teaching and reflection for tamariki and adults, discussion, communion, and a kids' programme. As well as coffee + good kai afterwards — all welcome!

On the last Sunday of each month, we have a rhythm of GO (where we serve in our neighbourhood) or INVITE (where we invite our friends and neighbours to a more relaxed church gathering).

What's Happening in the Neighbourhood

Morning Prayers

Monday – Friday, 6:30 – 7:00 AM

We meet to pray together each morning in the church for our world, our neighbourhood, and each other. All welcome.

Kai to the Community & Fruit and Vege Co-op

Tuesday afternoons, from 2:00 PM

Coordinated by Whānau Family Support Services Trust, Kai to the Community distribution happens at 2:00 PM at St Matt's on Tuesdays and at Walter Nash on Thursdays.

We are also part of the Naenae Fruit and Vege Co-op, where you can order a bag of fresh fruit and veges every week for $15. Pick-up times are Tuesdays 2:30 – 3:30 PM and/or 5:30 – 6:00 PM.

Community Garden

Wednesdays, 9:00 – 10:00 AM

Join us as we work together in our māra kai/vege garden. Come along for shared mahi and learn to grow your own kai.

Produce from the garden is shared with neighbours in need and Taitā Pātaka Kai in Walter Nash Park. No experience needed — everyone is welcome.

Taitā Community Playgroup

Fridays, 10:00 – 11:30 AM

Join us each week during term time with parents and whānau, pēpi and tamariki — some music, play, kōrero and kai. Anyone welcome.

Our Leadership

Who to contact if you need support

St Matt's takes a team-based approach to leadership and currently has a Leadership Team of four people — two clergy and two lay members: Maria Kirkland, Caro Willis, Steve Willis, and Sarah Colman-Shearer. The Leadership Team are responsible for the mission and ministry of the church.

Alongside that we also have a Committee responsible for finance and property decisions, which involves a bigger group of people as well as the Co-Missioners (Maria and Caro).

Hall Hire

Our hall and meeting rooms are available for community groups across Taitā, Pomare, and Avalon. From $15/hour.

St Matt's Kāinga

More than housing — we're building community

Eight warm, dry homes built on our church site by the Anglican Diocese — four one-bedroom, three two-bedroom, and one four-bedroom — providing affordable housing for families and individuals in Taitā.

Single-storey and designed for community, our Kāinga residents are welcome neighbours with no obligation to participate in church activities.
